Great read about a great kid from the Guilford County area and there has never been a dull moment in the life of Ryan Dull(East Forsyth High School/UNC-Asheville/Oakland A’s system)….Read here and see how he has handled the transition from high school, to college and now on to the pros and he has made baseball his vocation for life….

BELOIT, WI – There is no job on a baseball team more thankless than that of the closer. Each night, a team does all it can to get and hold a lead. If they succeed, it falls to the closer to finish it off. If he does so and seals the win, the perception is he simply did his job. If the opposition ties it up or takes the lead, the rest of the game is forgotten and all the attention will be focused on this one player and the runs he gave up. Enter into this unforgiving world, Beloit Snappers pitcher Ryan Dull(East Forsyth HS/UNC-Asheville). Ryan has thrived in the closer’s role for Beloit. In nine save opportunities, he has nine saves. Part of the reason is because he knows what it takes to do the job and loves the responsibility that comes with it. “You have to be mentally tough,” he says, “and know that the game is in your hands, which is where you want it to be as a pitcher.”

A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Ryan Dull has been pitching for practically his entire life. “Probably when I was about eight or nine was when I first started [pitching],” said Dull. When he reached East Forsyth High School, his future path was made clear by his coaches. “When I was about 14 or 15,” he said, “right when I started high school, they started using me more as a pitcher [rather than an infielder]. They knew that pitching would be my forte.” In his senior year, Dull made his coaches look like geniuses. He went 11-1 with a 0.58 ERA and 103 strikeouts. This earned him accolades such as being named Metro 4-A Player of the Year and becoming a member of the all-state squad. Said Dull, “I was able to just keep going out there and having fun.”
