Early Registration for Fall Programs Begins July 15
GREENSBORO, N.C. – – 2013 has already been a banner year for The First Tee of the Triad, and the hits just keep on coming. The First Tee of the Triad has filled its summer programs to capacity, it was announced today. The First Tee of the Triad now offers its programming at 11 Piedmont Triad locations allowing children from Clemmons to Burlington to enjoy its benefits.
All of The First Tee of the Triad summer programs, which begin tomorrow, are filled to capacity. The First Tee of the Triad is offering its summer programs at Gillespie Park in Greensboro, Winston Lake and The Meadowlands in Winston-Salem, Tanglewood Park and Salem Glen in Clemmons, Oak Hollow Golf Course in High Point and Jamestown Park. With all of the programs at all of the locations, more than 200 Piedmont Triad children are taking part in summer programs at The First Tee of the Triad
“We are humbled that so many Piedmont Triad families have enrolled their children in our programs,” First Tee of the Triad CEO Mike Barber said. “In 2011, we enrolled 370 children in our programs through the whole year. We have already enrolled more than 600 children for this year, and we have half of the year to go so we are on track to approach 1,000 kids this year. That is a tremendous jump in just two years. It is very gratifying to see the hard work of so many dedicated individuals benefit our region’s children.”
Despite the status of the summer programs, Piedmont Triad residents can take advantage of a clinic later this month. The second annual Wyndham Championship Parent/Child Clinic presented by Sunbrella is set for Saturday, June 22 from 9 a.m. until Noon at Gillespie Park in Greensboro. The nominal fee for the three-hour clinic is just $15 per family twosome.
People of any age who want to learn to play golf are invited to attend this clinic, and golfers are encouraged to attend in parent-child or grandparent-child twosomes allowing children and their parents or grandparents to learn the game together from professional instructors. Carolinas PGA Professionals will staff each station teaching a different basic golf skill such as putting, chipping, basics of the swing and more.
The clinic will take place at Gillespie Park in Greensboro, site of the very successful Newspapers in Education kids’ clinic held earlier this year. To sign up, attendees can visit www.thefirstteetriad.org and click on the “register” in the spotlight section. Registration closes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20. A maximum of 200 players may participate.
Because the summer programs are full, The First Tee of the Triad will open registration for its fall programs early. Fall registration will open on July 15 – families are encouraged to mark their calendars and sign up early so space is available.
