The inside from Coach Keyford Langley(former UNCG point guard) on his Carolina Preps 12U National Championship team….Coach Langley calls this one of the best, if not the best, teams he has ever been around…..This team could give the Theo Pinsons and Harry Giles of the basketball world a run for their money one day…..

Carolina Preps Wins 12u AAU National Title

The Carolina Preps’ 12u basketball team made their 3rd straight trip to the AAU National Basketball Final 4. Two years ago the team was runner-up. Last year the Preps came in 3rd place. This year, the Preps won the prestigious National tournament in Hampton, Va.

Carolina Preps breezed through pool play 3-0 with victories over the Georgia Stars (78-36), New Orleans Rising Stars (64-35) and Team Providence (72-24). Bracket play proved much more of a challenge, but the Preps stayed on course defeating Missouri Elite (79-45), New Rens (59-48) and Carolina Chaos (62-36). Standing in the Preps way of the championship game was the team that gave them their only lost of the season in the NYBL finals in Columbus, Ohio June 2nd and defeated them in the 2011 finals, All-Ohio Red. The Carolina Preps defeated the most intimidating team in the tournament (47-41) to advance to the finals. Derron Williams Elite (Dallas, Tx) dominated every opponent in the tournament until the -finals. The Preps won in overtime (55-50). The Carolina Preps record for the year, 70-1.
