The Eaves Report:On the AAU Circuit with Coach Jerry Eaves

Courtesy of Coach Jerry Eaves, former men’s head basketball coach at N.C. A&T State University:

The Karolina Diamonds finished the season 26 – 4 playing the majority of their players up two age divisions in 5 tournaments. In the month of July they won the Big Shots Slam Division in Myrtle Beach, SC and came in 2nd in the 17U Division in the Orlando Florida National Super Showcase.

Dennis Smith, Ty Graves, BJ Pittman and Brandon Childress gave teams problems because of their ability to put the ball on the floor and make 3 point shots. With Raekwon Long and Kweshaun Parker the Diamonds were very intimating in the paint with the ability to block shots and rebound the ball. Coach Graves praised his team for having the ability to play together and the discipline to work hard.

The Mid-State Magic finished the Super Showcase 4 – 1 and in the Orlando Florida AAU Nationals they went 1 – 3. With the help of Anthony Eaves, SaeQuan Rogers and Trent Torain, the team was able to advance to the Quarter Finals of the Super Showcase. Point Guard Anthony Eaves, class of 2015 is receiving serious D-1 interests along with possible reclass 6’5″ SaeQuan Rogers and 6’5″ Trent Torain. The players average 18.5, 15.2 and 14.5 respectively in the tournments. One report had Anthony Eaves making over 40 3 pointers in the Florida tournaments. Coach Cousin always does a terrific job with his teams!

Coach Wade did a tremendous job bringing the CP3 All Stars back to contention after the loss of Harry Giles after season ending knee surgery. Please keep Harry in your prayers to recover fully from his surgery!

The CP3 All Stars finished the Las Vegas Classic 4 – 2 over all losing in the Quarter Finals and 1 – 3 in the Peach Jam Tournament. The team was lead by Xavier Hill-Mais and Darius Moore. Xavier average about 14 points and 9 rebounds per game and Darius had 13 and 15 points respectively. Xavier and Darius have established themselves as D-1 prospects.

August 12-15 @ the Spears YMCA will be the last opportunity to be evaluated for the Elite Middle School Basketball Camp by Coach Eaves and his staff. If you do not believe your Middle School Coach will nominate you to be part of the top 60 Middle School Players, then it would be advantageous for you to attend the camp. To sign up you may contact Coach Eaves at jleaves555@yahoo.com or via cell phone at 336-707-1042.

Keep on hooping!!!
