15 minutes at 15 schools in 15 days:Day Thirteen with the Southeast Guilford Falcons

On the call with Southeast Guilford head football coach Fritz Hessenthaler this evening and tomorrow the Falcons will be on the road to Northwood for their Jamboree, which will feature SEG, Northwood, Cary, Orange, and West Montgomery….

This is year 11 for Coach Fritz at Southeast and he is blessed with a strong returning core group of players…The Falcons return 8 players on offense and 9 men are back on defense…The five players that SEG lost are all on their way to college and will be playing there and SEG sent a total of 6 players on to the next level, at the completion of the 2012 season…

This year/season Southeast is running with right at 100 players and they have been running practices from 9-12 in the morning and that schedule will change next week, when the Falcons will go on game-week time, with practice starting at 4pm…

The first game of the season comes for SEG next Friday night at home, versus the Knights of Northern Durham….SEG has a challenging non-conference schedule, with the likes of Northern Durham, Southern Guilford, Northeast Guilford, Salisbury, Southwest Guilford and Ragsdale….Southeast will play their first conference game against Page, at Page, on October 4.

Coach Fritz Hessenthaler tells us the Metro 4-A favorites will be Dudley and Page and he expects his Falcons to right there in the mix and Coach Fritz told us that it has been an excellent off-season….Players have been getting done what they need to get in the off-season and many, maybe up to 85% of his players made/attended 19 of the 23 Summer workouts and that was good thing for the Falcons, to get all of those kids down there and working out, in preparation for the new football season…

The top returning players on defense can be found on the line with Justin Hooks, Victor Barnes, Patrick Mace, Brevonte Rozier and Elliot Rawls….Hooks, Barnes, Mace and Rozier all started for Coach Fritz one year ago….
*****Coach Fritz also mentioned Sevon Billingsley, we forgot to list him intially…*****

More top returning players are stationed along the offensive line and SEG returns right at all five from last year and they are big…Did I mention that they are ‘BIG’….Tevin Brown tips the scales at 350 and he stands at 6’5…T.J. Williams comes in at 6’2/300, center Alex Cox is another large Falcon at 6’3/275 and Alan Gladney brings it in at 5’9/230….Cam Gardner checks the charts at around 6’3 and probably hits the scales at 240….Put Brown and Williams at tackles, Gladney and Gardner at guards and Cox in the middle at center, and you a ‘BIG’ bunch of Falcons….And they all have loads of experience too….

One of the leaders on offense will have to be second-year starting quarterback Ryan ‘Bubba’ Craven…Craven is a real good QB and Coach Fritz likes the way this young man runs the Falcon offense….Running behind Craven will be Shakir Turner, who turned it up field for 1,500 yards last season…Turner is turning heads and he is also getting quite a bit of attention from the college coaches….

More players on defense to keep an eye on for SEG are Jesse Michauex(LB), Ronnie Robinson(FS) and Travis Williams(Safety)….Robinson will also be your punter and Jared Cox(sophomore replacing Will Greene) will handle the kicking duties…Greg Ligs is another player that I heard Coach Fritz talking about and I hit most of these kids on the money, but there may still be a few names we have to alter/correct/change….

That is how it all went down in our talk tonight, with Southeast Guilford Falcons coach Fritz Hesenthaler, on the road to Northwood tomorrow night and hosting Northern Durham to kick off the season next Friday night…

Video will be forthcoming….

  1. i cant believe coach fritz did’nt mention 3 year starter and all conference cornerback devon billingsley..who shut down trevion thompson last year.watch out metro

  2. Coach Fritz did mention Devon Billingsley…..We had him on our original list and forgot to get him in here….Lots and lots of names, but we have him on here now….Thanks for the heads-up….

  3. I think Dudley is 1 and a toss up between Southeast and Page…I went to Page…I just call it like I see it… Every year Southeast suppose to have something for Dudley or Page and always get thrashed. …Page knows of that line big yes atheltic nooooo Page and Dudley has size and quickness…..thats asking for alot to say for Southeast to be underfeated. ….thats uncharted waters …i dont think Page will either but thoses Duds over there on the eastside can make that some discussion. ..like i said i call it like i see it…….those Panthers are the the real deal….had to get Chris Register autograph to my son he loves the way he play linebacker ….that team is coming out the west reminds me of the 08 team..

  4. Southeasts oline might be big but they are also athletic Cameron Gardner i hear runs a 4.8 40 and Tj Williams has very good feet and can move. This team is very talented watch out metro!
