Taylor Johnson Joins HPU Athletic Development Staff

Taylor Johnson has joined the High Point University Athletic Department as Assistant Director of Development, it was announced on Friday. Johnson most recently was Assistant Director of annual Giving and Alumni Engagement at Greensboro College.

In his role, Johnson will assist in reaching out to alumni and fans, engaging more involvement with HPU Athletics. He will assist with the Panther Club, special events and will work alongside the University’s Alumni Association.

“We are very excited to have Taylor join our team,” said Assistant Athletic Director for Development Bryan Norris. “Taylor’s prior experience working in institutional advancement, competing as a Division I student-athlete and coaching at multiple levels will be tremendous assets for our department and the Panther Club.”

At Greensboro College, Johnson assisted with developing and implementing an annual fund operations plan that helped increase overall participation. He also solicited donors and prospects, managed the department’s social media and e-newsletters and was responsible for event planning and coordination.

Prior to Greensboro College, Johnson worked at the Greensboro Day School for four years, serving in various roles that included Assistant Athletic Administrator and head boys soccer coach. His roles included several administrative duties as well as outreach to current donors and potential donors. He was named North Carolina Boys High School Coach of the Year and Greensboro News & Record All-Area Coach of the Year in both 2009 and 2010.

Originally from Greensboro, N.C., Johnson attended UNC Greensboro and graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2007. He was a member of the soccer team and served on UNCG’s Student Advisory Committee of Intercollegiate Athletics. He was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor roll four times.
