Elon vs. West Virginia Wesleyan, Saturday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m., Rhodes Stadium
• Elon will welcome in West Virginia Wesleyan for a 6 p.m. contest on Saturday evening for Military Appreciation Day. Those with military IDs can purchase tickets for just $5.
• The maroon and gold is 1-0 all-time against the Bobcats of West Virginia State, earning a 59-16 victory at Rhodes Stadium on Sept. 8, 2007.
• In week one, freshman punter David Petroni placed four punts inside the 20-yard line. By comparison, Elon punters put a total of 10 punts inside the 20.
Men’s Soccer (1-0-1)
UNCW Classic
Elon vs. Mercer, Friday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m., Wilmington, N.C.
Elon vs. Presbyterian, Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m., Wilmington, N.C.
• The Elon men’s soccer team travels to Wilmington, N.C., for its second early-season tournament of the season, the UNCW Classic, from Sept. 6-8.
• The Phoenix emerged unbeaten from its season-opening tournament this past weekend at the John Reinne Nike Invitational in Durham, N.C. Elon battled Northeastern to a 1-1 draw on Friday, Aug. 30, and closed out the tournament with a 2-1 come-from-behind win versus Rutgers on Sunday, Sept. 1.
• Nick Butterly, Miguel Salazar and Jason Waterman were selected to the John Reinne Nike Invitational All-Tournament team.
• Phoenix head coach Darren Powell picked up win number 80 in his career at Elon with the victory against Rutgers. He is second all-time in school history in program wins with a record of 80-63-21.
Volleyball (1-2)

Elon vs. George Washington, Saturday, Sept. 7, at 3:30 p.m., Orlando, Fla.
• Elon finished its opening weekend of play on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Navy. The Phoenix finished 1-2 in the Kristen Dickmann Invitational after falling to Illinois-Chicago and UNC Wilmington earlier and claimed second overall in the four-team tournament.
• Kris Harris shined for the maroon and gold hitting .386 after recording 31 kills off 57 attempts in three matches and averaged 3.1 kills per set. On defense, the junior tallied 11 blocks to finish with 1.1 blocks/set. Against Navy, Harris was nearly unstoppable after 13 kills off 19 attempts and only two errors to hit .579. The Apex, N.C., native was named to the all-tournament team following her performances in the three matches.
• Cali Estes also looked strong for the Phoenix after missing the majority of last season due to injury. The senior recorded a match and career-high 11 kills against UNCW.
• Elon will welcome Campbell to Alumni Gym on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in its home opener. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
• After its mid-week contest, the Phoenix will head south to Orlando, Fla., for the Holiday Inn Select/UCF Classic to face host Central Florida, Stephen F. Austin and George Washington.
Women’s Soccer (1-0-1)
Elon vs. High Point, Sunday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., Rudd Field
• The Elon women’s soccer team returns home on Sunday, Sept. 8, when it welcomes local rival High Point to Rudd Field for a 7 p.m. kick.
• Elon remains at 1-0-1 on the year following a 2-0 win at Coastal Carolina on Aug. 23 and a 1-1 draw versus ECU on Aug. 25. The Phoenix’s lone match last week against Charlotte on Sept. 1 was cancelled due to weather. A make up date will be announced soon.
• Goalie Kate Murphy enters Elon’s next match with 14 career shutouts, good for fifth all-time in program history. Murphy is six shutouts away from tying the school record of 20 set by Heather Kline (1988-91).
