College Women’s Soccer Final – New Paltz 2, Guilford 0

RALEIGH, N.C. – Eleni Anselmi and Chelsea Weir paired up on two first-half goals in the State University of New York at New Paltz topped Guilford College, 2-0, in the Meredith College Soccer Classic Sunday.

Weir fed a corner kick to Anselmi in the 7th minute for an early 1-0 Hawks’ lead. The pair struck again in the 35th minute, which capped the game’s scoring.

New Paltz (1-1-2) held a 29-5 edge in shots and collected all of the game’s six corner kicks. Krysten Kane picked up the shutout with one save and Abby Gove made nine saves in goal for the Quakers (0-5).

Guilford is back in action Thursday when it hosts Greensboro College at 7:00 p.m. in the Quakers’ home opener.
