College Men’s Soccer Final – Guilford 2, Ferrum 1 (OT)

FERRUM, Va. – Junior forward Rob Sandidge (Sanford, N.C./Lee Christian) scored 65 seconds into overtime to give visiting Guilford College a 2-1 soccer win at Ferrum College Tuesday night. The golden goal lifted the Quakers (3-2-1) to their second straight road win and their third victory in four matches.

Ferrum (3-3) forced extra time with 5:23 to play on a tally by Aaron Gustine. Guilford had taken a 1-0 lead about 20 minutes earlier on Christian Torres’ (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford) first college goal, which was assisted by Jonny Goffredi.

Guilford enjoyed a 14-7 edge in shots, but Ferrum took three of the game’s five corner kicks. Michael MacVane made two saves in goal for the Quakers, while his counterpart, Justin Robinson, had four stops for the Panthers.

Guilford returns home to host Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Eastern Mennonite University Saturday (9/21) at 2:00 p.m. in the Quakers’ Homecoming game.
