Men’s Soccer: Guilford 2, Randolph-Macon 2 (2-OT)

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-2 tie against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Randolph-Macon Friday night at the Armfield Athletic Center.

The Quakers (4-6-2, 2-4-1 ODAC) jumped on top early with two first half goals. Jonny Goffredi opened the scoring 9:29 into the game and Francisco Bribiesca gave Guilford a 2-1 lead heading into intermission.

The Yellow Jackets (3-6-2, 1-3-2 ODAC) tied the game in the second half on a goal off a corner kick. Brock Barbeau forged the tie at the 48-minute mark.

Randolph-Macon pushed the action for most of the second half but it was Guilford with the chance to win in the final minute, getting two good scoring chances but unable to push the ball into the net.

Guilford could not muster much offense in the first overtime period but had several chances in the second extra stanza. But Chris Lowe was able to stand tall in goal and the two teams came away with a point.

Michael MacVane made six saves for the Quakers.

It’s a quick turnaround for Guilford, who return to the field Sunday afternoon when they host Division II Chowan at 1:00 pm.
