Greensboro College Pride Women’s Soccer Picks Up USA South Victory 4-1

MONTGOMERY, AL — The Greensboro women’s soccer team (4-5-1, 3-2-1 USA South) beat Huntingdon (3-7-1, 1-4-1 USA South) 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Pride scored two goals before haltime and added another two in the second half.

The Pride got on the board first at the 34:29 when Lauren Greeson found the back of the net off an assist by Tiffany Walters. Greensboro extended the lead one minuite later when Greeson hooked up with Meghan Cole making it 2-0.

Greensboro came out of the half attacking when, Erin Young beat the keepr pushing the lead to 3-0. The Pride’s final tally came off a corner when Elizabeth Torres played a ball finding Greeson for her second goal of the game and to lead 4-0.

The Hawks broke the shutout, scoring at 89:07 mark, dropping the game 4-1. The Pride outshot their opponets 12-4.

Five Pride players led the way with two shots apiece – Melanie Raton, Amanda Foley, Walters, Greeson, and Young. Jessica Thatcher picked up the win making one save in goal

The Pride return to action tommorow when they travel to LaGrange. The kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 P.m.

After the game, Coach Spooner said “I am happy with the team today, they came ready to play and scored some goals early on, and kept getting stronger as the game went on.”
