Cross Country
Elon at Blue Ridge Open, Friday, Oct. 18, Boone, N.C.
Elon at NCAA Pre-Nationals, Saturday, Oct. 19, Terra Haute, Ind.

• The Phoenix last competed at the Mountaineer Open (Oct. 4) and the prestigious Greater Louisville Classic (Oct. 5). In Louisville, Elon’s Luis Vargas finished sixth out of 269 competitors with a time of 24:39.44 in the men’s 8K race, while Allyson Oram was the top finisher for the Phoenix women with a 24th-place finish out of 288 runners and a time of 17:51.77 in the women’s 5K.
• Vargas and Oram were tabbed as the Southern Conference Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week, respectively, on Oct. 9. It was the first time since 2011 that the programs swept the league’s weekly award.
• Vargas was also recognized by the conference for a great September by being selected as the SoCon’s Male Runner of the Month last Wednesday, Oct. 9. The junior from Angier, N.C., was also voted as the SoConFANChoice Athlete of the Month on Friday, Oct. 11.
• Majority of the Phoenix men and women will travel back to Boone, N.C., to compete at the Blue Ridge Open on Friday, Oct. 18. Vargas and selected members of the women’s team will race the following day at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet at Terra Haute, Ind.

Football (2-5, 1-2 SoCon)
Inside the Huddle Luncheon, Monday, Oct. 14, at 12 p.m., Best Western Plus
Elon Football Live, Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., The Fat Frogg
Elon vs. Chattanooga, Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1:30 p.m., Rhodes Stadium (Live Pink)

• Quarterback Mike Quinn completed a personal best 37 passes, threw for two scores and rushed for his first career touchdown in Saturday’s near upset of #12 Wofford. The junior has attempted 127 passes without an interception.
• The Phoenix rushed for 123 yard against Wofford, the fourth consecutive week eclipsing the 100-yard mark. It was the first time since 2010 that the program had four straight 100-yard games on the ground.
• This weekend, Elon returns home to take on Chattanooga during Live Pink Weekend. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
• Elon and the Mocs have faced off 10 times before this weekend’s tilt. The maroon and gold is 6-4 in those games.

Men’s Golf
Elon at Donald Ross Intercollegiate, Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 14-15, Morganton, N.C.

• After over a month since its first competition of the fall, the men’s golf team will return to the links at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State, on Monday and Tuesday at the Mimosa Hills Country Club.
• In its only other event this year, the Phoenix tied for fourth in the 12-team Springhill Suites Intercollegiate.
• Will DiIanni shot a seven-under par 209 to tie for second individually at that first event.

Men’s Soccer (9-2-1, 1-1 SoCon)
Elon vs. Georgia Southern, Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., Rudd Field
Elon at Furman, Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., Greenville, S.C.

• The Elon men’s soccer team returns home on Tuesday, Oct. 15, to face Georgia Southern before traveling to Greenville, S.C., for a match against Furman on Saturday, Oct. 19.
• Elon was ranked No. 16 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll last Tuesday, Oct. 8, tying its highest ranking ever. The Phoenix was also tied for first in the NSCAA South Region poll.
• After going scoreless his freshman year, sophomore James Brace is currently tied for the team-lead in goals with six and has scored in each of the Phoenix’s previous two matches.

Men’s Tennis
ITA Carolina Regional, Oct. 17-20, Cary, N.C.

• Several members of the Elon men’s tennis team will travel down the road to Cary, N.C., for this year’s ITA Carolina Regional.
• Cameron Silverman ranks 34th in the nation and heads into the tournament with a 9-1 singles mark this fall. Silverman advanced to the singles championship at last year’s ITA Carolina Regional.

Men’s and Women’s Basketball
Late Night With the Phoenix, Friday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m., Alumni Gym

• See the Elon men’s and women’s basketball teams for the first time this season at Late Night With the Phoenix on Friday night!
• The Phoenix men enter this season with high hopes coming off last year’s Southern Conference North Division title, as the team returns all five starters from a year ago.
• The women’s team returns three starters and nine players to this year’s squad and will look to make its second straight postseason appearance after reaching the quarterfinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational last year.

Volleyball (12-10, 3-3 SoCon)
Elon at Samford, Friday, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. (EST), Birmingham, Ala.
Elon at Chattanooga, Saturday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m., Chattanooga, Tenn.

• The Phoenix recorded its third straight match sweep with a win over The Citadel when it returned home to Alumni Gym last Friday after eight matches on the road.
• Elon went 2-1 last week after wins at North Carolina A&T and over The Citadel before falling to Georgia Southern.
• The maroon and gold go back on the road this week, making the long trip to Samford and Chattanooga for two important Southern Conference matches.

Women’s Soccer (8-2-4, 2-1-2 SoCon)
Elon at Georgia Southern, Friday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m., Statesboro, Ga.
Elon at Davidson, Sunday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m., Davidson, N.C.

• The Phoenix returns to action this weekend with a pair of road matches at Georgia Southern and Davidson.
• Elon went 1-0-1 last week following a draw versus Wofford and a 4-3 victory over first-place Furman.
• Rookie Kelly Siewers scored twice in the win over the Paladins, helping the Phoenix remain unbeaten at home and snap Furman’s 10-match unbeaten streak.

Women’s Tennis
ITA Carolina Regional, Oct. 17-21, Chapel Hill, N.C.

• Several members of the Elon women’s tennis team will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for this year’s ITA Carolina Regional.
• Elon’s last competition was Oct. 29 at Wake Forest.
• The doubles team of Jordan Johnston and Frida Jansaker ranks 60th nationally. The duo is 7-0 this fall.
