College Volleyball Final – Emory & Henry 3, Guilford 2

EMORY, Va. – Nicole Tesh put away 19 kills and Tristen Pennington added 16 in Emory & Henry College’s 3-2 volleyball win over visiting Guilford College Tuesday. The Wasps (14-10, 6-4 ODAC) rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pull out the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) decision, 25-21, 17-25, 20-25, 25-15, 15-12.

Tesh had four kills and Pennington three in the decisive fifth set, which featured eight ties. Neither team led by more than two points in the final frame until Kennady Thomason’s putaway ended the match.

Tesh hit .371 in the match and added three service aces five digs. Pennington led Emory & Henry with 19 digs and Kelly Mae Kerlin added 18 pickups. Maleah Neely set up 54 assists and added six digs and four kills.

Senior Brittany Freeman had 15 kills and three blocks for the Quakers (11-14, 4-7 ODAC). Sophomore Kelsey Ruehling added 10 kills, 13 digs, four aces and three blocks. Sophomore Jessica Patrick and senior Malikah French both had eight putaways. French led all students with six blocks, classmate Meredith Foscue scooped up a match-best 30 digs and senior Taylor Whitley posted a double-double with 39 assists and 15 digs.
