Elon Cross Country Pheonix Competes at Three Stripe Invite

RALEIGH, N.C. – Members of the Elon University cross country teams competed today, Nov. 9, at the NC State Three Stripe Invitational on the WakeMed Cross Country Course.

Adam Bernstein was the top finisher for the Phoenix in the men’s 5K run with a time of 15:41.07 and crossing the line in seventh overall. Ian O’Leary was the next runner to finish for Elon in 16th place with a time of 15:50.35. James Stevenson (20th, 16:08.25), Reed Payne (24th, 16:21.68) and Ryan Gwaltney (26th, 16:39.03) also competed for the maroon and gold.

On the women’s side, senior Jackie Madden earned a sixth-placed standing with a time of 19:01.18 to lead the Phoenix women in the 5K run. Brennan McDavid (ninth, 19:09.25), Sabina Bains (10th, 19:20.47), Kaitlin Stober (11th, 19:21.20) and Kylie Womack (12th, 19:23.15) were the next to cross the line for Elon.

The Phoenix women finished second overall behind Duke at the meet with 39 points while the men were placed fourth as Duke also took the men’s title.

Elon will compete in its next meet at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 15, in Charlottesville, Va.
