Pride Women’s Swimming Splits Saturday Meets
The Pride’s women’s swim team split their double dual meet, beating Guilford 124-60 but falling to Bridgewater 67-135. Marisa Martinez was a triple event winner, beating all competition in the 200 Individual Medley (2:18.23 which is the second best time in Pride history), the 100 Butterfly (1:00.97), and the 500 Freestyle (5:43.94). Posting second place finishes were Regina Robertson in the 200 Freestyle, Sarah Barton in the 50 Freestyle, Sierra Zentz in the 100 Freestyle, and Lauren Fisher in the 100 Breaststroke.
Men’s Swimming Drops Close Meet to Hampden-Sydney
The men’s team was edged by Hampden-Sydney College 81-93. Zach Lemmon bested two of his own school records. Leading off the 400 Medley Relay, Zach posted a 57.24 in the 100 Backstroke, and toward the end of the meet he claimed the 100 Breaststroke in a new team record time of 1:04.83. Eddie Kirby added two victories in the distance events, clocking in at 12:07.71 in the 1000 Freestyle and 5:38.00 in the 500 Freestyle. Matt Dittemore added a come-from-behind victory in the 100 Freestyle with a 55.54. Second place finishes were claimed by Dittemore in the 200 Freestyle, Kirby in the 200 Individual Medley, Walker Flynn in the 50 Freestyle, and Josh Peregoy in the 100 Backstroke. The Pride men finished the meet winning the 400 Freestyle Relay.
