A tale of two different Carolinas on Sunday

It really was a tale of two different Carolinas on Sunday, with the Carolina Panthers coming away with a big win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Tar Heels falling on the road at UAB….

Panthers led by the passing and the running of Cam Newton in their 27-6 win and Newton was right at 331 yards of total offense on Sunday and he had two TD passes, with one to Brandon LaFell and the other to Ted Ginn Jr. Mike Tolbert was pounding the Bucs into submission with running and blocking and there is a very good post/article on Tolbert by Tom Sorenson, at today’s Charlotte Observer on-line/www.charlotteobserver.com…..

The Carolina Tar Heels fell to Alabama-Birmingham 63-59 and the Heels couldn’t buy a free throw and they left all of their three-point shooters back in Chapel Hill….Very big loss on the road for Carolina and Sunday has become a day when they can end up taking a ‘bath’ since they lost to Belmont 83-80 two weeks ago and now they go down in Birmingham yesterday….And just so things didn’t become a complete Sunday wash, they were able to knock off #3 Louisville last Sunday….They need to get some weekday games on their schedule, and looking ahead, here comes the Michigan State Spartans in just a couple of days….Can it get any easier than that???? Sunday, Sunday and here comes Monday……
