Former Grimsley boys basketball coach and Reidsville Rams coach Bill Walton steps down due to health problems

A good friend of high school basketball has been forced to step down due to health issues, as Reidsville Rams’ boys ooach Bill Walton has resigned….Coach Walton is the former boys coach at Grimsley High School and he coached kids like Walker Holt, Cammeron Bennerman, Genaro Lawhorne, who all played ball in colllege and there have been many kids that have learned their basketball from Coach Walton over the years….

I remember a night back in 1999 when Coach Walton had Grimsley in the sectionals at High Point University and they were playing WS Reynolds and Coach Walton was still out their coaching his Whirlies, even though he had had a mild heart attack the night before…..The man was a gamer….

Very interesting history on his time and the time of the other coaches at Reidsville High over the years in the modern era of high school basketball…

Bill Walton, who was in his ninth season with Reidsville, was the third coach in the school’s history since World War II, following Hoy Isaacs (1946-83) and Ron Parson (1983-2005), who has since moved on to Danville (Va.) George Washington.…Coaching history from the Burlington Times-News….
