Greensboro College Pride Women’s Basketball Cruises Past Mary Baldwin

GREENSBORO, NC — The Greensboro College Pride picked up their second consecutive conference victory with an 87-40 victory against Mary Baldwin.

Greensboro College scored the first five points of the game, and would not look back the rest of the way. Joslyn Spires got the scoring started with the first of her four points in the game. Greensboro continued to apply the pressure for the remainder of the half, and went into the break with a 55-18 lead.

When the teams returned to the court after the break the Pride was able to pick right back up where they left off going into the break, continuing to extend their lead. The Pride largest lead in the second half way by 50 at 77-27 with ten minutes left to go in the game.

Greensboro College had 12 players find the book in the game, with two of them scoring in double figures. Syerra Troutman led the way for Greensboro with a game high 17 points, while Chevena Pickard added 13. Troutman also pulled down seven of the Pride’s 54 rebounds on the evening, with four of them coming on the offensive end of the floor. Greensboro College was able to force 30 Mary Baldwin miscues, resulting in 46 of the Pride’s 87 points.

With the win, Greensboro College moves to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in USA South play. The Pride women’s basketball team will return to action at Mayo C. Harlow Memorial Court on Sunday afternoon, when they welcome the Lions of Piedmont to town. The first tip is set for 1:00 pm.
