Women’s Basketball: Guilford 58, Emory & Henry 47

EMORY, Va. – Guilford claimed its third straight win with a 58-47 road win over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Emory & Henry Wednesday night. The victory kept the Quakers one game behind in the loss column from the ODAC lead.

Gabby Oglesby had a dominating game with 19 points and 15 rebounds, both game-high marks. She carried Guilford through most of the first half. Oglesby contributed five points during a 9-2 run to close the first half, which gave the Quakers a 27-22 lead at the intermission.

But Emory & Henry (3-13, 1-6 ODAC) fought back in the second half and at the 9:03 mark it held a 42-38 lead. That set the stage for another big run by Guilford, this one a 13-0 spurt which gave it a lead it would never relinquish.

Two free throws by Oglesby pulled the Quakers within a bucket and on the other end of the floor she came up with a big defensive rebound. Lila Scott converted back-to-back three-point baskets and Guilford took control of the game.

Guilford (13-3, 5-2 ODAC) once again played a strong defensive game. It limited Emory & Henry to 24.7% shooting and held the hosts to 47 points, the ninth time this season a Quakers opponent failed to reach 50 points.
Karina Farr led the Wasps with 13 points.

Next up for Guilford is another ODAC road tilt, as it faces Eastern Mennonite Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
