College Women’s Swimming Final – Hollins 129, Guilford 56

ROANOKE, Va. – Hollins University scored a 129-56 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women’s swimming win over visiting Guilford College Saturday. Hollins improved to 3-10 overall, 3-6 in the ODAC. Guilford is 0-9, 0-8 in the league.

Meg O’Brien led the way for Hollins by winning three individual events. The junior secured first place in the 200 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, and 500 Freestyle. The 200 IM saw Hollins sweep all three of the top positions. O’Brien won the event while Lauren Chin came in second and Sam Vats finished
third. Chin came back later in the event to win the 100 Backstroke.

Guilford had two wins on the day. Senior Abby Gove won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 16:42.36, the Quakers’ second-fastest time this year. Teammate Morgan McKinnon captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.41, Guilford’s third-best time of the season.

Sophomore Caitlyn Young shaved four seconds off the Quakers’ best time in the 200 freestyle with a clocking of 2:50.74, which placed third.

Guilford closes the dual-meet portion of its schedule Friday at Ferrum College at 1:00 p.m.
