FERRUM, Va. – Ferrum College won eight of 10 events to take a 102-55 women’s swimming decision over visiting Guilford College Friday afternoon. Michelle Jaeger won three times and Jess Rowsey and Samantha Levy both captured two races for the Panthers, who improved to 3-9 on the year.
The Quakers’ team of Caitlyn Young, Jocelyn Gesner, Jarrett Knepper and Abby Gove claimed the 200-yard freestyle relay in two minutes, 28.37 seconds. Morgan McKinnon won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:24.51 and placed second in the 50 freestyle for Guilford (0-10). Her career-low time of 29.84 seconds in the 50 is the team’s second-best this year. Teammate Kendra Medina was runnerup in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke. Guilford’s Francesca Quigley turned in the Quakers’ fastest 500 freestyle time (7:51.02) of the season in a third-place result.
Coach Emily Wilson’s team wraps up the season next weekend with the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
