Game Report on Dudley at Smith games tonight:Panther girls move to (5-0) in the Metro/Vance hits for 22 and at least 15 rebounds for Dudley boys

Dudley girls now (5-0) Metro and (11-6) overall….

Dudley girls 76-30 winners with Essence Abraham leading the way with 12 points, Lena Barghen added 11 and Barghen is starting to look like a keeper for Dudley…The kid can do it and do it well….Abriya Jackson had 11 points and she worked real hard for hers….Kiara Harrison was outstanding inside for Dudley and posted 9 points….Like her length and what she adds to their inside game….There was 8 points for Shaquasia Taylor, 7 for Raven Johnson had a big first half, six points for Makala Rouse and she had several strong moves to the hole, 6 pts. for Jewell Miller had a solid second half shooting the three ….Tamaya Carter put in 4 points for the Panthers and smooth little Cierra Turner turned in a two-point game….

Smith was lead by Deja Rudison-Williamson with 13 points, Akera McPhaul contributed 7, Amber Conner was there for 4, while Tamini Manning and Alea Powell added in 3 points….

Dudley boys take it 58-54 over Smith in front of a packed-out gym at Ben L. Smith High School…
Huge night for Khalil Vance, as the Dudley post man had 22 points and right at 15 rebounds….Extra larger night for the 6’3/225 pound center…The other Panther postman, Yuau Shol had 12 points and key late baskets for the Panthers….BJ Pittman got off to a very good start and ended up with 9 points for Dudley….Brion Seagraves put in 5 Panther points, Hendon Hooker hit two major free throws late to ice the game for Dudley and he ended up with 4 points and Simeon Gatling had two important points for the Panthers…

Smith was paced by freshman J.J. Watson with his 22 points and then it was Devonte Phillips with 9 and he a solid inside game going with fellow twin-tower Kendrick Lowe who hit for 7 points, while guard Aaron Simpson was on the money with several up-and-unders and was on the board with 8 points and Myles White kicked in 4 for Smith….

Way too many missed free throws by both teams tonight and that is usually the case in these big games, but Hendon Hooker hit two at the end that again, iced the game for the Dudley Panthers….Hooker stepped up to the charity stripe with 3.8 seconds left and nailed his first toss to make the score 53-50 and then he added the second free throw to lock it up, 54-50 Dudley…

Very tight game and some great game action with the freshmen like J.J. Watson, Hendon Hooker, Brion Seagraves, Myles White and others and these kids will be the ones in charge of the courts for many years coming up down the road….Watson is a real player for Smith…This kid is ready for the big-time now and Coach Derrick Partee came up with a good plan to use J.J. on offense and then give him a break on defense tonight….Watson is a future star on the rise and he is going to be one of those that fans talk about over the next 3-4 years along again with Hooker, Seagraves, White and others……Watson is for real and he will be on everyone’s radar has he gets stronger and when he can play longer….Twenty-points is not a bad night’s work and the kid knows no fear….We have seen the same hard-driving approach from J.J. ‘No Fear’ Watson since back in November and December….The kid can do and let’s just hope he keeps on working harder and sees the need to improve and get better each year….

Great game and thanks to D.J. Reader(Grimsely/Clemson) who talked to us at halftime…No more baseball for D.J., it is all football, all the time for this Clemson Tiger…Excellent young man with a great future ahead of him and Dudley Panther alum Chris Reigister was also at this game, coming home from Clemson to visit, after graduating from Dudley back in December and now he is a Tiger too….Good job by Khalil Vance and he joined for the post-game interview, along with Dudley Panther head coach, Brian Seagraves…..

Good game and a good night at Ben L. Smith High School with Rod McCollough as the Athletic Director and thanks to Mr. McCollough for hosting all of us tonight….

Dudley and Smith are now both (3-2) in the Metro 4-A Conference boy’s race…..
