HPU’s Austin Geisler Named A-Sun Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Redshirt-junior Austin Geisler of the High Point University men’s lacrosse team earned Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday. Geisler made 13 saves between the pipes in the Panthers’ first game of the season.

Geisler played all 60 minutes in the cage for HPU while posting 13 saves and four ground balls in Saturday’s contest at Delaware. Geisler got better as the game progressed, improving his saves from four in the first half of the game to nine in the second half against the Blue Hens.

The goalie started 14 games last season for the Panthers and averaged 12 saves per game with a .512 save percentage while picking up all three of HPU’s wins.

High Point is back on the road on Saturday, Feb. 8 when the Panthers take on Towson at 11 a.m. HPU will play its first home game the following Saturday, Feb. 15 against Saint Joseph’s at 1 p.m. in Vert Stadium.
