GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s women’s swimming team sits in ninth place after Friday’s opening day of competition at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Washington and Lee University opened a 127-point edge over Emory & Henry College in the nine-team field.
The Quakers scored all 40 of their points when the 400-yard medley relay qualified for the A Final and claimed eighth place. The team comprised of Kendra Medina, Morgan McKinnon, Francesca Quigley and Caitlin Young touched in five minutes, 16.59 seconds.
Guilford narrowly missed the B Final in the 50 freestyles when Nina Troy edged McKinnon by 0.64 second for 21st place in the 41-swimmer field. The Quakers also had contestants in the 500 freestyle and were led by Quigley’s mark of 7:46.09, which ranked 28th in the 30-swimmer race.
Guilford’s 200 freestyle relay team of Abby Gove, Quigley, McKinnon and Young was ninth and had a time of 2:03.46 in qualifying.
Coach Emily Wilson’s team resumes competition Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
