College Women’s Basketball Final – Guilford 64, Emory & Henry 41

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College held visiting Emory & Henry College to five second-half field goals in a convincing 64-41 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women’s basketball win Monday.

Guilford’s Kayla Adams (Rural Hall, N.C./North Forsyth) scored a game-high 14 points as the Quakers (17-6, 9-5 ODAC) improved to 12-0 when holding the opposition to 50 or fewer points. The strong defensive effort enabled coach Stephanie Flamini to substitute liberally in the second of four games within a seven-day span.

Leading 35-28 at halftime, Guilford kept Emory & Henry scoreless for the first 8:49 of the second half. Adams and Brittany Drew (Greensboro, N.C./Page) made three-pointers during the 11-0 Quakers’ run. Emory & Henry missed 11 straight shots before Karina Farr’s jumper with 11:11 left in regulation ended the drought. Her basket brought the Wasps to within 16 points, but they drew no closer. Guilford limited Emory & Henry to five-for-27 shooting (18.5%) in the second half.

Gabby Oglesby (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) scored seven points and collected a game-high 13 rebounds, which helped the Quakers to a 50-35 edge on the glass. She also recorded three of Guilford’s eight blocked shots. Drew, Lila Scott, Alex Payne and Nataile Henderson each tallied six points.

Emory & Henry’s Anna Green and JoBeth Wright shared team-high scoring honors with eight points apiece. Wasps’ leading scorer Kristie Langley was held to just three points, nine off her season average, but led the team with five rebounds.

Guilford entertains Roanoke College Wednesday (2/19) at 7:00 p.m. in an ODAC game.
