With HPU Men’s Basketball Tournament Win, An HPU Student Gets $31,480

HIGH POINT, N.C. — If the High Point University men’s basketball team makes it to the NCAA Tournament and wins a game, one current HPU undergraduate student will win $31,480 (equal to tuition and fees for 2014-15), paid for by Smart Choice and Central Insurance. Students have to attend the men’s basketball game against Campbell on Feb. 28 on ESPNU to be entered into a drawing for the prize.

By winning the Big South Tournament, the Panthers would automatically qualify for the NCAA Tournament. With a win in their first NCAA Tournament game (including first round/play-in games), a student will be drawn to win $31,480.

The HPU men’s basketball team is currently tied for first place in the Big South North Division with an 8-4 record. The Panthers have four regular-season games remaining. Last year, North Carolina A&T beat Liberty, 73-72, in a first-round game in Dayton, Ohio.

To be eligible for a prize, students must swipe their HPU Passport card with a ticket representative at the High Point University men’s basketball game against Campbell on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Millis Center. It’s the regular-season finale and the game is being televised on ESPNU.

The contest is sponsored by SmartChoice (smartchoiceagents.com) and Central Insurance (central-insurance.com). SmartChoice and Central Insurance are funding the grand prize.
