Last Time Out
Elon came very close to erasing a once 15-point deficit at Appalachian State on Monday. The Phoenix closed the gap to one point, 56-55, with over seven minutes to play but was not able to overcome the Mountaineers, falling 71-60. Both Lauren Brown and Zora Stephenson each scored a team-high 14 points with the help of four threes by Stephenson. Sam Coffer also finished in double figures with 13 points for the maroon and gold.

Scouting the Terriers
Wofford is currently suffering a five-game losing streak after losses at home against Samford and Chattanooga last week. Despite losses recently, the Terriers only lost three of those games by eight points or less. The team’s last win was a 68-65 final against Elon on Jan. 27 in Spartanburg. Wofford averages 56.8 points per game and has two players scoring consistently in double figures. Jordan Frazier is scoring 13.7 points per game, while Logan Morris is posting 12 points/game.

The Series
Saturday marks the 23rd meeting between the Phoenix and the Terriers in a series that is a decade old. Elon leads, 13-9, and had won seven straight before Wofford’s victory last month. Last year in Alumni Gym, the Phoenix won, 62-58.

Senior Farewell
Saturday marks Senior Day for Kelsey Harris and Candice Silas. The two will be honored prior to tip against Wofford and Monday’s game against Furman will mark their last game in Alumni Gym. Harris has played in 121 games and made 102 starts in her four years. While Silas is a junior in athletic eligibility after a medical redshirt two years ago, she will graduate in May as injuries have forced her to move on from playing.

Clutch Coffer
In Elon’s games against Davidson on Feb. 10 and at Western Carolina on Feb. 15, Sam Coffer was sent to the line in the final seconds to win both games. The game against the Wildcats was a two-point game with less than one second left to play, while the game against the Catamounts had 10 seconds left on the clock in another two-point situation. Coffer made the necessary hits from the charity stripe to secure wins in both contests for the maroon and gold.

Terrier Alum
Saturday’s game against Wofford is against a familiar uniform for Elon’s Director of Women’s Basketball Operations Kate Dempsey. Dempsey, who is in her second season with the Phoenix, played center for the Terriers from 2005-09.

The 1,000-Point Club
Kelsey Harris is on her way to becoming the 20th member of Elon women’s basketball’s 1,000-point club. The senior currently has 988 career points, leaving her just 12 shy of the elite mark. The Gastonia, N.C., native is averaging 12.1 points per game.

NCAA Rankings
The NCAA released its latest set of rankings on Feb. 17 and Elon finds itself ranked eighth nationally in three-point field goal percentage with a 38.7 percent mark from beyond the arc (first in the league) and 20th in blocked shots per game (5.1/game).

Looking Ahead
The Phoenix will play its final regular-season home game of the season on Monday, Feb. 24, against Furman at 7 p.m. in Alumni Gym.
