HIGH POINT – Zach McLean hit a two-run homer for High Point Christian in a 8-2 win over visiting Kannapolis Cannon on Thursday. The game was called after six innings because of darkness.
Ben White doubled and drove in two runs for the Cougars (2-1). Stephen Hemrick went 3 for 4. Brian Young was 2 for 3.
Hemrick was the winning pitcher, tossing the final three innings in relief of Luke Gesell. Both gave up a run with Hemrick striking out four and Gesell striking out three.
HPCA is slated to play Friday at Wake Christian.
