Greensboro College Pride Women’s Lacrosse Tops Hawks 13-7

GREENSBORO, NC—The Greensboro College Pride women’s lacrosse team returned to their winning ways on Sunday afternoon topping Huntingdon College 13-7 in USA South action.

Greensboro College got on the board first when Kirstin Norris took the opening draw putting the Pride up 1-0 early. Huntingdon was able to find the equalizer five minutes later before Greensboro scored two straight goals pulling out to a 3-1 lead. The Hawks tallied one last time in the half, but It was Greensboro scoring six straight times to take a 9-2 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, Greensboro came out of the break scoring twice to pull out to a 11-2 lead before the Hawks were able to find the back of the net again making the score 11-3. An Ashlynn Parks free position goal pushed the lead to 12-3 before Huntingdon scored four unanswered goals to get within 12-7. As the final horn sounded, Alexa Besch took a pass from Kelsey Cenate for the game final goal winning 13-7.

Norris led the way for the Pride on the day with 5 points (4g, 1a), while Nadya Fedun and Alexa Besh chipped in four points. The Pride outshot their opponents on the day 33-23 while holding a 24-15 edge in the ground ball category.

Kaliegh Hemstock took the win in the goal for the Pride, stopping 12 Hawks shots on the day.

With the win, Greensboro College moves to 3-3 overall on the season and 1-2 in USA South action. The Pride will return to action tomorrow afternoon when the Panthers of LaGrange come to town. The first draw is set for 12:00 PM.
