ELON vs. GARDNER-WEBB: Tuesday’s match with the Runnin’ Bulldogs marks the eighth time the two teams will meet on the courts. Overall, Elon holds a 6-1 record with the only loss coming on the road in 2011. Last year, Elon took a 6-1 road decision against Gardner-Webb on February 4, 2013.

LOOKING BACK: Just before inclement weather hit the area, the Phoenix went on the road for the first time since January to take on the East Carolina Pirates Thursday, March 6. With only three indoor courts available for the match, Elon earned the doubles point, then took the first three singles matches to pick up a 4-0 sweep of the Pirates.

STREAKING PHOENIX: After dropping its first four matches of the season, Elon has won six straight and is looking to continue its streak against the Runnin’ Bulldogs. Last season, the Phoenix had two double-digit winning streaks. The Phoenix won 11 in a row to start the season 11-1. After dropping two consecutive matches, the Phoenix won 10 in a row before falling to College of Charleston in the Southern Conference tournament finals.

ON A ROLL: Through this six-match winning streak, Elon has picked up four 7-0 sweeps and another 4-0 sweep. Jordan Johnston, Barbora Lazarova have led the charge for the Phoenix in winning each of their last six respective matches on court Nos. 1 and 3, respectively. Though sitting out two matches of the streak, Jansaker has come out victorious in each of her last five matches. Bryn Khoury holds a 5-1 record in her last six matches and Taylor Casey is 4-1 in her last five matches. Tolley Rice has yet to lose a college match as the freshman is 5-0 thus far with the Phoenix.

FRIENDLY CONFINES: Dating back to the start of the 2013 spring season, Elon holds a 15-3 record at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Its last regular season loss at home came March 14, 2013, against UNC Greensboro.

JANSAKER HONORED: Jansaker became the fourth Elon athlete throughout the 2013-2014 academic year to be named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week on Feb. 19. The honor came after Jansaker won her doubles match against UNC Wilmington Feb. 17 before helping Elon come from behind against the Seahawks to win the match with a victory at No. 2 singles. Nathan Dean of the men’s soccer team, Sam Coffer of the women’s basketball team and Brian Kowalski of the men’s tennis team are the other three Elon athletes to earn the award this year.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Phoenix will step back into conference for one match against the Davidson Wildcats this weekend, Saturday, March 15, before stepping right back out to face Wake Forest Sunday, March 16. Saturday’s match against the Wildcats is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Davidson, N.C.
