Connor Burrows got the start for the Ragsdale Tigers at Western Guilford on Thursday night and he pitched 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Burrows gave up 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5. He left in the bottom of the fifth with the bases loaded and one out and turned the game over to reliever Kip Brandenburg. Brandenburg worked out of the jam getting a short fly ball and a ground ball force out at third. He then pitched a perfect seventh to preserve the shutout.
Meanwhile, Ragsdale got on the board in the second when Avery Hodges got a two out single to drive in Matt Horkey who had walked and moved to second on a Connor Lipke sacrifice bunt as the Tigers took a 1 – 0 lead. They scored two more in the third as Niko Orfanedes singled and came around on a Cesar Trejo inside the park home run to the fence in dead center field. Ragsdale added a single run in the third on an Orfanedes sac fly driving in Kip Brandenburg from third. They added two more in the seventh as Hodges got another RBI single driving in Lipke, with the final run scoring on an overthrow to third base.
Ragsdale is at Wheatmore on Friday, March 14 @ 5:00 PM while Western Guilford is at home to face Ledford on Friday at 5:30 PM.
