Elon Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Lancers, Visits Wildcats This Week

ELON, N.C. – After three games on the road, the Elon women’s lacrosse team returns home to Rhodes Stadium this week for a mid-week game before another road game on Saturday. The Phoenix hosts Big South opponent Longwood in a makeup game from earlier this season on Wednesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. Elon will then play another Big South team in Davidson on Saturday, March 22, at 2 p.m.

Looking Back
Elon suffered two setbacks last week as the team fell at No. 1 North Carolina and at Campbell. Despite the losses, Sloane Kessler shined for the Phoenix with five goals and three assists.

NCAA Rankings
The NCAA released its latest set of women’s lacrosse statistics rankings on March 17. Elon has two players that rank in the top 50 in several of the statistical categories. Goalie Rachel Ramirez is second in the country in saves (91), second in save per game (11.38/game), fifth in ground balls (3.75/game) and 41st in save percentage (0.45). Sloane Kessler is 30th in assists (12) and 41st in assists per game (1.5/game).

Looking Ahead
After this week’s games, Elon will play two more Big South teams in Presbyterian and High Point. The Phoenix hosts the Blue Hose on Friday, March 28, at 6 p.m. in Rhodes Stadium before playing in High Point, N.C., against the Panthers on Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m.
