GREENSBORO, NC—The Pride baseball team fell to Covenant 14-1 in seven innings in the opening game of a three game series this weekend.
The Scots scored seven runs in the second inning taking the early 7-0 lead. Covenant added five more in third, and one in the sixth pushing the lead to 12-0.
Greensboro plated their first run in the sixth, when Jordan Powell bunted his way on base and eventually scored on a passed ball by the catcher making it 13-1. However, the Scots answered right back with a run of their own for the 14-1 win.
Leading The Pride on the day with a pair of hits was Andrew Hernandez.
With the loss, Greensboro moves to 2-14 overall, and 1-11 in USA South play. The series concludes tomorrow with a doubleheader. The first pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
