Elon Women Open Play at John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — Battling cool conditions, the Elon women’s golf team finished the first day of the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate in sixth place with a mark of 308.

The Phoenix was paced by Kelsey Badmaev who ended the first round in a tie for ninth out of 90 players with a 75. Badmaev began her round on the back nine where she was two over. After the turn, she would post two birdies on her way to finishing three-over par.

Just one stroke back with a 76 in a tie for 16th was Kathryn Buckingham. Buckingham posted a par on 14 of her 18 holes during round one.

Sunna Vidisdottir’s round of 77 has her in a tie for 22nd with 36 holes to play. She posted four birdies over her first 18 holes.

After carding an 80 on Sunday, Katie Partridge sits in a tie for 41st. Partridge had one birdie.

Finally, Emily Brooks shot an 81 and will begin Monday’s second round in a tie for 51st.

Georgia’s Amira Alexander, playing as an individual, led the field after one round. Alexander carded a one-under 71 on Sunday.

Host Georgia State leads the 16-team field with a score of 300. Campbell and Troy are tied for second at 304. Kennesaw State (305) and Old Dominion (307) round out the top five.
