Elon Women’s Golf Phoenix Stays Steady at John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — The second day of the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate saw the Elon women’s golf team knock eight strokes off its first-round mark as the Phoenix finished the day in a tie for sixth place out of 16 teams with a two-round score of 608 (308-300).

Kelsey Badmaev continued to pace the maroon and gold after the second round. Badmaev followed up Sunday’s 75 with a round of 73 on Monday. Her total of 148 has her tied for 12th out of 90 players. She posted three of her five birdies for the tournament on Monday.

Also taking two strokes off of her first-round score of 77 was Sunna Vidisdottir. Vidisdottir sits in a tie for 23rd with a two-day tally of 152. She has recorded eight birdies, four in each of her two rounds, which is the third-highest total of any player in the tournament.

In a tie for 31st is Kathryn Buckingham. Buckingham’s total sits at 154 (76-78) after two rounds and she notched two birdies during her second 18 holes. She is also among the tournament leaders with 23 pars.

Emily Brooks’ 156 (81-75) has her tied for 39th, while Katie Partridge is tied for 45th with a 157 (80-77). Brooks’ lone birdie of the tournament came on her final hole on Monday, but her 24 pars are tied for the third-most of any player. Two of Partridge’s three birdies came during Monday’s round. She has 22 pars.

With one round to play, Campbell’s Kaylin Yost holds the individual lead with a three-under 141 (74-67).

Host Georgia State (588) leads the field by two strokes over Campbell (590). Troy (593), Middle Tennessee State (601) and Kennesaw State (606) round out the top five teams. Elon is tied for sixth with Old Dominion.
