Coaches and Baseball Fans – We are hosting the NewBridge Bank Invitational Tournament at the NewBridge Bank in downtown Greensboro April 12 thru April 16. This is the home park for the Greensboro Grasshoppers and a beautiful facility. This is our third year and as always we will have some college prospects in attendance. We have expanded to eight teams this year. Southeast Guilford, Northern Guilford, Randleman, Wheatmore, McMichael, Rockingham County, Grimsley, and Uharrie Academy will all play.
We will have a sheet available at the gate for all coaches and scouts with contact information on the players that each high school coach feels are the kids that have the ability to play at the college level. Last year six seniors were signed to play in college after being seen at this Tournament. We hope you can attend.
This year Southeast Guilford has a junior outfielder DJ Artis who is uncommitted and looks to be a D1 prospect with 6.6 times in the 60 and quick wrists at the plate. Ryne Stanley is a junior ALL Area as a sophomore catcher / INF uncommitted and should be D1 or D2. Southeast also has two junior pitchers in Tommy Michaels and Bailey Steed that look like they will be D2 or D3.
Northern Guilford has three seniors Hunter Morgan , Charlie Burguieres , and Jennings Woods verbally committed. Northern has a junior RHP / INF Kevin Bell that coach Kimrey thinks should go D1 or D2…
McMichael has Bump Martin a uncommitted senior infielder with 6.8 times in the 60. Martin hit .449 as a junior and is currently hitting .430 as a senior. They also have Blaine Dalton a 6′ 2′ RHP / C that they feel can play and the next level.
Rockingham County has the Zarate brothers. Jay Zarate is D1 according to his coach and his brother Angel is a LHP and both kids have some pop in their bat.Andy Pruitt is a uncommitted senior LHP that can pitch at D3. Gavin Taylor and Cody Cobb also have the tools.
This is just a sample and we will be updating the list. Grimsley has Jake Simpson who is headed to the Naval Academy and others . Whirlie Kyle Smith is verbally committed and Zack Labranche a LHP is a prospect. Coach Jake Smith at Randleman has a good looking young LHP and a RHP that beat us once this year. Jake Smith a ECU player that spent some time in the Braves organization always has well coached players and prospects. Coach Van Hurley won two State 2- A championships at Randleman and is now at Uharrie Academy tells me he has a couple of young players who will play in college someday.
