Elon’s Kirschling Earns SoCon Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophomore Megan Kirschling of the Elon University women’s track and field team was selected as the Southern Conference’s Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Thursday, April 4.

This is the second career weekly accolade for Kirschling and the second outdoor honor for the program this season. The West Deptfort, N.J., native had a top-10 finish in the international high jump division at the Raleigh Relays last Friday, March 28, clearing the bar at 5’7” (1.70m).

Kirschling currently holds the best mark on the league’s outdoor performance list in the high jump this season. Kirschling set a new school record in the event with a mark of 5’8.75” (1.75m) at the UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational on March 14.

The Phoenix will compete at its next meet this weekend, April 4-5, at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational in Lynchburg, Va.
