We have been hearing and to some extent seeing what is happening this week with Austin Coltrane and the word we have been catching is that the former Northern Guilford NCHSAA 3-AA State Champion football player is taking his game to Campbell University for the Fall of 2014….
Coltrane will become a Camel at Campbell….The kid can play QB, but he might be a better DB than he is QB…
I saw him from field level in a scrimmage a few years back out at Northern and the kid can hit….He was leading hard with his forehead that day and Coltrane was like a ‘Train Coming Down the Track’….
The facemask of his helmet was going right into that receiver and I wouldn’t have wanted to be the guy that got hit by ‘The Trane’/Train that day….
Austin appears to be ready to go full-time football in college, although the Coltrane kid is pretty good baseball player too, but it does look like he has decided to go all-out football from this point forward….
Great kid with an out-going personlity and he should do real good down the road playing for former Carolina Panther Frank Minter, at Campbell University….
When the Northern Guilford Nighthawks used to take to the road for their NCHSAA playoffs they would always stop in for their pre-game walk-through at Campbell when they were down east and that is where Coltrane first started to work on his kicking game and he became an above average kicker for his high school this past season…..
Keep it coming Coltrane and you will contiune to make your family proud…His dad Bobby was a talented player for the Northeast Guilford Rams back in his day and that might be where Austin gets that football blood coming/flowing in from….Could also come from his grandfather Jack…He used to throw a pretty good Hawaiian Punch…I know he threw me one back in the 60’s and I learned a lot from that man and now Austin will get the opportunity to carry on his education…
