HT Locos/Locomotives will play this season at Finch Field

HT Locos Start Season May 21st

HIGH POINT-THOMASVILLE, N.C. – The High Point-Thomasville HiToms announced the inception of a new collegiate summer team: The HT Locomotives. Opening Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st, Dollar Night at Finch Field.

“We have tremendous optimism for this new team,” said HiToms GM, Nick Gaski. “It addresses a significant void between our legion baseball programs and the Coastal Plain League squad, and really rounds out the framework of the entire HiToms organization. This team is a great representation of our commitment to baseball development in the Greater High Point and Greensboro communities.”
(I think Wes Wrenn-WES is tied in with this team.)

The Locomotives, nicknamed the Locos, are an independent wood bat team but still affiliated with the HiToms organization. The Locos will play close to a 45-game schedule primarily against teams from the Carolina-Virginia League, but other adult independent teams will also be added as opponents. Home games will be played at Finch Field and in the surrounding communities.

Players added to the 25-man roster will come from colleges and universities local to the greater High Point-Thomasville area. Some spots have been filled, but open tryouts will be held at Trinity High School at 10am this Saturday, May 10th. Interested parties should email info@hitoms.com for more information.

The name for the Locomotives (“Locos”) was generated via a “Name the Team” contest. The HiToms would like to congratulate Trinity Head Baseball Coach and HiToms Post 87 Legion Coach, Rob Shore, for his winning suggestion. Shore will receive a collection of Locos apparel, in addition to season tickets for the 2014 season.
