Senior righthander Drew Van Orden hurled his first career shutout and three Blue Devils – Ryan Deitrich, Andy Perez and Jordan Betts – hit home runs as Duke defeated Georgia Tech 6-0 … Van Orden allowed only five hits and struck out eight in winning for the fourth time in six decisions.
Van Orden has pitched six or more innings eight times this season and 15 times in his career … Van Orden ranks sixth in the ACC with 91 strikeouts.

After collecting only six hits, all singles, in their opening game loss to Clemson, the Blue Devils bounced back 14 hits against four Yellow Jacket pitchers, including five for extra bases.
Thursday’s game was the 120th meeting between the two teams … Georgia Tech leads the series 87-33, including a 8-3 advantage in ACC Tournament play.

The Blue Devils improved to 22-56 in league championship play while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 75-55.

Ryan Deitrich fourth-inning home run was his second of the tournament and ninth of the season, giving the Duke right fielder sole possession of second place among ACC home run leaders.
Georgia Tech has played errorless ball through its first three games of the Tournament and the Yellow Jackets have turned six double plays.
With his three hits in five at bats, Duke’s Andy Perez now has two or more hits in six of his last 13 games, including four games with three or more hits.
