Westchester Country Day losing baseball coach:Hammond heading to Wake Forest

Westchester Country Day head baseball coach Joey Hammond is leaving WCD and heading to Wake Forest University, where he will become an assistant coach, on Tom Walters’ staff…

Hammond will be replaced at WCD by Mickey Williard, who played at Westchester and at Guilford College and then worked as a student-assistant at High Point University….

If I am not mistaken, the baseball stadium at High Point University is named for Williard’s family/grandfather….

WCD losing a big name with Hammond to Wake Forest and he will join one of his top players off of this past season’s NCISAA 2-A State Championship team at Wake in Donnie Sellars and in turn, Westchester is getting a big name, in Mickey Williard….
