More news on SEG Junior Legion and ER Post 81 from Charlie Pannell:
Southeast Guilford will host Eastern Randolph in the JR Legion playoffs tonight 7 pm at Southeast. Southeast has defeated Eastern Randolph twice this season while going undefeated in conference play.

Southeast defeated Carson a strong Rowan Co. team to advance to the second round while Eastern Randolph defeated Rowan County a number one seed to advance.

Coach Dave Beasley said ” We beat Eastern Randolph twice this year and must beat them again twice to advance to the State Championship. As good of a team as they are we have our work cut out for us. Both games earlier were close hard fought matches. Eastern Randolph always comes ready to play and is aggressive at the plate. Should be great baseball in this series.”

Eastern Randolph and Southeast used to be in the same conference on the 3A level and many observers thought it was one of the best baseball conferences around. Southeast Guilford players have played Senior Legion with Grady Lawson’s Post 81 Eastern Randolph team for years. Tommy Michaels, Cam Gardner. Zack Canada, and Devin Sweet have helped put the Eastern Randolph team in the playoffs for Senior Legion this year.

With SEG and ER beating the ever powerfull Rowan county teams and Post 81 SR Legion going strong in the playoffs looks like baseball is alive and well on the Guilford county and Randolph county border……
