  1. from the Lafayette Journal and Courier on-line on Greensboro White Colt team:www.jconline.com

    Greensboro (N.C.) White

Manager: Reid Holmes makes his third consecutive Colt World Series appearance.

East Zone: One of two teams representing Greensboro to play in the zone tournament, White rolled to three victories with a 32-5 run differential. That included a 10-0 victory over Youngstown, Ohio, in the championship.

Of note: Greensboro, the 1965 Colt World Series champion, has sent a team to Loeb Stadium in 10 of the last 11 years.

Top pitchers: Josh Pike, Kameron Pruitt, Reed Jenkins

Top hitters: Cole Chapman (2B), Tanner Hobbs (C), Kip Brandenburg (3B), Randy Norris (SS), John Flowers (CF)

What to expect: Nine players from this year’s team were at the Colt World Series last season (when Greensboro went 1-2), and another played here two years ago. The three pitchers listed above started games in the zone tournament, but Holmes said he has eight arms he’s comfortable putting on the mound.
