Dennis White reporting with GreensboroSports.com. I had the opportunity to stop by Smith High School and talk with the head football coach Antonio Kilpatrick about this upcoming season as he enters into his second year as the Head Football Coach for the Smith Golden Eagles….

Our Top 10 questions for Coach Kilpatrick:
1)Who will be your team leader(s)?
Cameron Clark offensive tackle and center and Desmond Sturdivant at defensive end, plus Quintrale Davis at safety…

2)How many years have you been coaching and is this your last stop?
13 years coaching with two years as head coach…I would love to stay as long as I can to get this program up to being one of the best in the state…

3)How many players on Varsity?
36 players on JV and 44 on Varsity

4)Who is the toughest team that you have ever coached against?
When I was an assistant coach at Dudley, this was the team that was a well-oiled machine, they were coached well and very disciplined, this is the reason why Dudley has a winning program year-in and year-out….

5)The coach you have learned the most from?
I would have to say Coach (Vic) Floyd and Coach (Steven) Davis, these two coaches helped make me to grow as a player and as a coach…They gave me my first coaching job. They also coached me as a player when I was at Page High School…Coach Davis gave me a chance to showcase my offensive coaching skills, he made me his Offensive Coordinator….

6)Your Top offensive returning players?
Offensive Tackle/Center Cameron Clark

7)Top defensive returning players?
Desmond Sturdivant at Defensive End

8)Who will win the Metro 4-A Conference?
Dudley or Smith…Dudley is always the favorite team to win it, but I can not count my team out…

9)Your greatest satisfaction you receive from coaching?
Watching these kids grow up and then be productive citizens beyond the game of football and then being successful in life…

10)Among the Guilford County Schools from today or from the past, your program most resembles?
I would have to say the Dudley Panthers from all my years there…I would love to see this Smith program up to where Dudley is…Smith has had some good years on the top and I hope that this coaching staff we have now, we can return them there in the near future…
