Complete 2014-15 Men’s Basketball Schedule

The Big South schedule has expanded from 16 to 18 games in 2014-15. HPU – the two-time defending Big South regular season champion – will play eight opponents twice and match up once with Longwood and Liberty.

“With the change to an 18-game league schedule, remaining focused during conference play is going to be extremely important to reach our goal of making the NCAA Tournament,” head coach Scott Cherry said. “Our league schedule is difficult – especially at the beginning and end – but our veteran group has been there before and has the experience necessary to put us in good position heading into the Big South Tournament in March.”

The Panthers open the league slate with a bang, hosting defending Big South Tournament champion Coastal Carolina on New Year’s Eve. HPU won last season’s meeting between the teams, 77-74, in Conway, S.C.

After a road contest against Winthrop on Jan. 3, the Panthers host back-to-back home games with Charleston Southern (Jan. 8) and Campbell (Jan. 10). HPU then heads to Boiling Springs for a game at Gardner-Webb (Jan. 14), followed by a Monday night showdown with Longwood on Jan. 19 inside the Millis Center.

The Panthers travel north for a contest at Radford on Jan. 22, then host Asheville on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Millis. Following a two-game road swing at Presbyterian (Jan. 26) and Liberty (Jan. 29), HPU hosts a rematch with Radford on Feb. 3 in High Point.

HPU heads to Myrtle Beach for a Friday night clash with Coastal Carolina on Feb. 6 and hosts Winthrop five days later in a key cross-division contest. After a Valentine’s Day contest at Campbell, HPU hosts its final two regular season home games with contests against Gardner-Webb (Feb. 18) and Presbyterian (Feb. 21).

The regular season wraps up with a two-game road swing at Asheville (Feb. 26) and Charleston Southern (Feb. 28)

The Big South Tournament will once again be hosted in conjunction with the women’s tournament at Coastal Carolina, close by Myrtle Beach, S.C. The men’s first round is March 4 before the quarterfinals, semis and championship game are played on consecutive days March 6-8. The winner earns a bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins on March 17.

All Big South network games will be streamed live on the Big South Network and highpointpanthers.com. Potential televised conference contests will be announced at a later date.
