HPU Men’s Basketball Game at Ohio State to Air on ESPNU

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men’s basketball team’s game at Big Ten foe Ohio State will air live on ESPNU on December 10.

The contest between the Panthers and Buckeyes will tip at 7 p.m. inside Value City Arena at the Schottenstein Center. It will mark the first ever matchup between HPU and Ohio State on the basketball court.

The contest also marks the Panthers’ first regular season contest against a Big Ten program since Nov. 14, 2011, when HPU was narrowly edged by Purdue, 67-65, in West Lafayette, Ind.

Ohio State posted a 25-10 record in 2013-14 and fell to Dayton in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes return nine letter winners and three starters from last season’s squad.

HPU is coming off its second-consecutive Big South regular season championship and the first NIT berth in program history. The team returns 85.5 percent of its scoring and all five starters from a season ago.

The Panthers will be featured on the ESPN Family of Networks twice during the 2014-15 non-conference schedule. HPU also will make an appearance on ESPN2 Nov. 18 when the Panthers take on Hawai’i (5 a.m. ET) in Honolulu as part of the ESPN 24-hour College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon.

About the Panthers: High Point University men’s basketball is a program on the rise and a member of the Big South Conference. Over the past two seasons, HPU has captured two Big South regular season titles, a Big South-leading 24 league victories and is the only conference program to earn a berth in back-to-back post-season tournaments. HPU also is one of just 44 programs nationwide to post a conference winning percentage of .750 or better over the past two campaigns.
