College Women’s Soccer Final – Meredith 4, Guilford 0

RALEIGH, N.C. – Meredith College’s Cassie Padilla netted two goals in their 4-0 Sunday afternoon victory over Guilford College in day two of the Meredith Classic.

After Padilla’s forth-minute goal, Meredith McCarty netted the Avenging Angels’ second goal in the 22nd minute thanks to the Danielle Lee’s second assist of the contest. Following Padilla’s second goal in the 70th minute, Ashton Allen added to the tally eight minutes later to increase the Meredith lead, 4-0.

Meredith held the advantage on shots, 20-5, and corner kicks, 11-1.

Becca Banks stopped two shots in net for the Quakers before Caitlin Young relieved her in the 38th minute, stopping four shots. Meredith’s Jaisa Loch made one save before being relieved in the 75th minute by Brook Verburg. Jessica Tucker relieved Verburg for the final 3:26 of the contest.

The Quakers return to action Wednesday, traveling to cross-town rival Greensboro College for a 4 p.m. contest.
