Pawlowski, a junior from Greensboro, N.C., helped lead Guilford to its second win of the year by posting a career-high 418 yards and six touchdowns thru the air against Methodist. The Quakers put up 50 or more points for the second straight game, marking the second time they’ve done that in back-to-back games in school history. Pawlowski hit 10 different receivers in his 28-of-39 (71.8%) overall passing performance. He led Guilford to scoring drives on its first eight possessions. In the first half alone, Pawlowski exploded for five touchdowns and 328 yards on 19-of-29 passing. Pawlowski’s penchant for taking care of the football has continued into 2014 as he has thrown 10 touchdown passes without an interception thru the first two games of the season.

In 2013, Pawlowski threw the ball away just three times against 24 touchdown passes over 308 total pass attempts. He’s thrown the ball 67 times so far this season, completing 73.1-percent of his passes.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College junior Matt Pawlowski (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) captured the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the football season’s second week. Sunday’s announcement marks the sixth time Pawlowski has received the league’s weekly honor.

Pawlowski, a 6-2, 190-pound quarterback, posted career highs in passing yards and touchdowns in Guilford’s 52-20 home win over Methodist University Sept. 13. He completed 28 passes to 10 different receivers on 39 attempts for 418 yards, and threw for six touchdowns. Pawlowski’s 418 passing yards rank sixth all-time in Guilford’s history, and his six touchdowns passes stand third on the list. His 212.6 efficiency rating in the game is seventh-best in school history.

After two games, Pawlowski leads the ODAC in passing yards (653), touchdowns (10), completions (49), and completion percentage (73.1). He has moved into second place on Guilford’s career pass completions list (444) and ranks third in total offense (5965), passing yards (5469) and passing touchdowns (49). Pawlowski is third among NCAA Division III passers this season with a 204.3 pass efficiency rating after two games.

Coach Chris Rusiewicz’s Quakers (2-0) travel to Salem, Va., to play Southern Virginia University Saturday night (9/20) at Salem Stadium starting at 7:00 p.m. Guilford is bidding for its first 3-0 start since 2007.
