College Men’s Soccer News – Guilford’s Sandidge Wins Weekly ODAC Award

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Robert Sandidge (Sanford, N.C./Fayetteville Christian (Cape Fear C.C.)) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week Award Monday. The senior forward earned the award for the second time in his career and he is the Quakers’ first recipient of the league’s weekly honor this year.

The 6-0, 170-pound team captain started the season playing in the back, but spent the bulk of Guilford’s Sept. 12 home match with previously unbeaten Washington and Lee University up top. The move paid off as he notched two first-half goals, which sparked the previously winless Quakers past the regionally ranked Generals, 2-1. The two goals marked Sandidge’s second multiple-goal game in his two seasons with the Quakers.

Sandidge’s four points and two goals lead coach Jeff Bateson’s Quakers (1-5, 1-0 ODAC), who host Ferrum College Tuesday (9/16) at 7:00 p.m. at Appenzeller Field in the Armfield Athletic Center.
