College Women’s Soccer Final – Randolph 2, Guilford 1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Randolph College used two second half goals to earn an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory, 2-1, over Guilford College on a wet and windy late Wednesday afternoon.

Guilford held the lead throughout the latter part of the first half, 1-0, when Nicki Baggett (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) received a cross from Kelli Uresti at the right side to score the game’s first goal inside the six-yard box in the 27th minute.

The Quakers held the lead until the 53rd minute when Randolph’s Brittany Hammons scored on a breakaway goal to tie the game, 1-1. Erin McClelland scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute when she received a deflection off a near-side corner kick.

The Quakers held the edge on shots, 11-9, after holding Randolph to just one first half shot. Guilford also held the advantage on corner kicks, 5-1.

Caitlin Young made four saves in net for the Quakers. Randolph’s Stephanie Quirk also stopped four shots.

The Quakers (0-8-1) return to action Saturday, traveling to Sweet Briar College for a noon contest.
